Sugar Creek Golf Course has once again been named as a Top 100 Play Golf America facility in 2011 for the second consecutive year. Not only was Sugar Creek named to the prestigious top 100 list, but the course ranks #4 in America, based on results of various player development programs. The PGA of America recognizes outstanding Play Golf America facilities around the country for their programs which have proven successful, and who have become leaders in growing the game of golf. Close to 2,400 courses participate in the Play Golf America initiative.
Sugar Creek Golf Course – a joint facility of the Elmhurst Park District and The Village of Villa Park – was chosen as one of only three golf programs in the state of Illinois to receive this impressive recognition. “It’s an honor to be recognized like this once again and shows that we are consistently striving to grow the game of golf,” said Sugar Creek General Manager Dave Anderson. “We’re very proud how far we’ve come in a short period of time – since the driving range was built in 2005. We’ve worked very hard to develop our golf instruction programs, which are continually evolving to meet the needs of today’s golfers.”
The recognition event was attended by PGA Head Professional Jeff Siegmund at the January PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Anderson and Siegmund develop golf instruction programs for all ages and skill levels at Sugar Creek, most notably the summer youth program which reaches over 300 participants. Their main focus is to develop programs introducing the game and developing players through a simplified learning process while making the game fun.
